The Police in Bayelsa State on Saturday at about 11.50pm resisted an attempt by unknown gunmen who attacked expatriates quarters, at Onopa.
The gunmen were said to have opened fire on the security personnel on guard, in an attempt to abduct the expatriates. The SUPREME learnt that the security promptly returned fire for fire and the gunmen retreated and abandoned their assault rifle.
The state police spokesman, DSP Asinim Butswat who confirmed the story disclosed that the hoodlums escaped through the waterways in a speedboat. He added that manhunt for the gunmen has been intensified while, investigation is ongoing.
