Taraba Police Arrests Cable Thieves, Recovers Stolen Cables

Police in Taraba State Command said, on Friday 10/01/2025, a case of vandalism and theft of electric cables was reported at the Donga Police Station, by one Joseph Danjuma, 43yrs of Asibiti ward, a security staff attached to INEC office in Donga LGA of the state.

Again one Jibrin Ibrahim, 45yrs of Asibiti ward a security staff attached to the education office Donga LGA reported the same theft issue.

The Command said, on Thursday 9/01/2025, the entire electric cables of both INEC and the Education office were discovered to have been stolen.

Subsequently, on the same date, one Husseini Vyonku reported a theft of electric cables in his house valued at eight million Naira.

Acting on the strength of the information, operatives of Donga Division swiftly mobilised to the scene and embarked on a surveillance patrol; the relentless search paid off, which led to the arrest of four suspects in connection to the vandalised electric cables. The suspects are: Dickson Tough 24yrs, Alhassan Yerima 25yrs, Tanko Bilyaminu 23yrs Sunday Kunloni’ 30yrs.

The Suspects were arrested and found in possession of the burnt electric cable wires. However, the suspects will be arraigned once ongoing investigation is concluded.

The Commissioner of Police Taraba State Police Command, CP Ukhachi Opara has commended the efforts of the operatives of Donga Division.

The CP reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the lives and property of the citizens are protected. He urged the good people of Taraba State to be law-abiding and provide the Police with useful and actionable information that will assist the Police in fighting crime and criminality.

The spokesman of the Command, SP Abdullahi Usman confirmed the story.
