The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Alkali Usman Baba, has rolled out emergency telephone numbers in prompt response with combatant officers and men on standby, to respond in case of emergency situations and distress calls, and to ensure safety of residents across the country.
Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi made this known in a statement. He said,, the IGP who gave the order allays the fears of residents in view of the rumoured possible attacks by terrorists.
The statement added that, the police boss reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force, in concert with other security agencies, to ensure the safety of all residents in the country, and charged all strategic police nanagers in charge of commands and tactical formations in the country to beef up security in their respective jurisdictions, especially in the FEDERAL Capital Territory (FCT).
The IGP in the same vein, directed that all emergency numbers across the country should be activated to full capacity for a 24/7 prompt response and equally urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or abnormal occurrence and strange movements of persons to the Police through the following emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883.
It will be recalled that, last Sunday October 23, 2022 the US Embassy in Nigeria, issued security alert that terrorists had planned to attack sone key areas in Abuja on Monday 24/10/22. The same Sunday, the Department of State Security (DSS) corroborated the US security warning, but called for calm. On Monday afternoon Police Force Headquarters Abuja, also issued a statement assuring safety of residents.
