Benue Police Arrest 3 Robbery Suspects

The Benue State Police Command said it arrested three armed robbery suspects last Sunday, while one of them, Abba Mohammed, the leader of the gang is currently at large.

According to the police, among some of the suspects that were arrested are Mujahid Mohammed; Yahaya Abdullahi and Kalipha Mohammad, who are all residents of Mararaba, Nyanya, Abuja.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Benue State Command, DSP Udeme Edet, who disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Makurdi on Saturday, explained that the incident occured last Sunday in Orokam at about 5:30 pm.

She also stated that the police recovered in the possession of the suspects a bag containing 34 assorted handsets, 3 HP laptops, and 2 MP3 players.

Meanwhile the State Commissioner of Police (CP), Emenari Ifeanyi, has commended the patrol team for their swift action, just as he reiterated the Command’s commitment to rid the state of criminal elements.

She said, “On 31st August 2025 at about 1705hrs, while operatives of the Orokam Police Division were on stop-and -search duty at Orokam Junction by Obollo-Afor road, they intercepted and arrested three suspects.

“During investigation, the suspects confessed belonging to a gang of armed robbers who have been terrorising the Orokam community in Benue state and other communities in Enugu State. They confessed to having robbed six flats at the Umukasi area and ten flats at St. Theresa area of Nsukka in Enugu state.

“They further averred that their ring leader one Abba Mohammed age 27yrs who is presently at large escaped with their weapons in the course of the arrest.”

Furthermore, she said that: “Efforts are being made in collaboration with Enugu and Gombe State Police Commands with a view to apprehending the suspect at large and prosecuting same after due investigation as well as identification of owners of these items.

“Members of the public are advised to continue to support the Police with timely information to ensure a safe society for all”, she appealed.
