From Haruna Tula – Abuja
The controversial Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun is chewing more than he can swallow. His hasty action in sending about 200 policemen on compulsory retirement, early in February this year, may cost the police fortune.
The affected officers had dragged the Nigeria Police Force, the IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Police Force Secretary and the Police Service Commission (PSC/ to National Industrial Court Abuja.
The case is being on since February.
Egbetokun apparently aware that the case will end in fiasco and the police would pay damages to the affected officers, has been applying tactical delays of absenting from court proceedings.
Today, he applied the same delay tactics, when he and Force Secretary were absent from court
The case was further adjourned to next week Tuesday 30/09//25 for judgement.
The claimants counsel and 1st defendant counsel, the Police Service Commission were present in court while 2nd and 3rd defendants counsel, (the IGP and Police Force Secretary) were absent.
As a result, the court adjourned the case and directed that Hearing Notice should be served on Egbetokun (2nd defendant) and Force Secretary (3rd defendant) to that effect.
