The Delta State Police Command has concluded security arrangements for the Udu State Constituency by-election scheduled for Saturday, 19th September 2026. The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, has ordered the deployment of police personnel across Udu Local Government Area, covering polling units, collation centres, major routes and other critical locations to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free exercise.

The CP has directed all officers deployed for the election to remain professional, vigilant and impartial, and to provide adequate protection for voters, INEC officials, accredited observers and electoral materials. Patrol and response teams will also be deployed to maintain security within the area and respond promptly to any attempt to breach the peace.

The Command warns against political thuggery, violence, voter intimidation, vote buying, ballot snatching, possession of firearms or other dangerous weapons, destruction of electoral materials and any attempt to disrupt the election. Political actors and their supporters are particularly advised to caution their followers, as anyone found engaging in any act that undermines the peaceful conduct of the election will be arrested and dealt with in accordance with the law.

CP Samuel E. Erale, assures the electorate that the command will provide the necessary security for them to exercise their franchise without fear or intimidation. He urges residents, candidates and political supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and cooperate with Police personnel throughout the exercise, stressing that the command remains neutral in the electoral process and will be firm in enforcing the law against anyone, irrespective of status or affiliation, who attempts to disturb the peace.
