Welfare: CP Delta, CP Erale Presents ₦25million To Families Of Deceased Officers

From Monday Ochuko – Asaba

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale yesterday 17th September 2026, presented 46 cheques amounting to Twenty-five million, four hundred and five thousand, two hundred and twenty six naira (₦25,405,226.57) to families and next-of-kin of deceased Police officers who served under the command. The cheques, presented at the Police Command Headquarters, Asaba, are claims under the welfare and insurance schemes of the Nigeria Police Force aimed at providing financial support to families of officers who lost their lives in service.

The CP stated that the presentation underscores the commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, to the welfare of Police personnel and the families of fallen officers. He noted that although no amount of money can replace the lives of the deceased officers, the intervention demonstrates the Force’s resolve to ensure that the sacrifices of its personnel are remembered and that their families are not abandoned.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Moses Evelyn Animi expressed appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police for the gesture. She stated that they were pleasantly surprised when contacted by the command, as they had not expected the payment, and thanked the Nigeria Police Force for remembering and supporting the families of their departed loved ones.

CP Samuel E. Erale, psc, mnips, sympathised with the beneficiaries and urged them to make judicious use of the funds, particularly towards the welfare and education of the children and other dependants left behind. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to facilitating the prompt processing of legitimate claims due to families of deceased personnel and assured serving officers that their welfare and that of their families remain a priority of the Nigeria Police Force.

Spokesman for the Command SP Bright Edafe confirmed the story.
