AIG Odumosun Debunks Rumour Of EFCC Appointment

Aruga Joe Omokaro

Former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, now retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Hakeem Odumosun has debunked the rife rumour that, he has been slated for appointment as Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Odumosun told The SUPREME on phone this morning that, “the story is not true. There is nothing like that. I have been inundated with so many calls and messages between yesterday and today on a purported “EFCC Appointment”., I just want to use this opportunity to debunk this information and say it’s totally untrue.”.

Odumosun noted that, the information must have emanated from mischief makers, and should be totally disregarded “

Odumosun was the first police officer to head the Lagos State security outfit, the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), when President Bola Tinubu was governor of Lagos. And former Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Mike Okiro was Commissioner of Police Lagos State

As a no-nonsense operational officer, Odumosun as the Commander of RRS, crime in Lagos was reduced to a tolerable level. He performed creditably well, promoting the former IGP Adamu to deploy him to Lagos in 2020 as Commissioner of Police to curb criminality in the state. He was later promoted to AIG rank, and subsequently retired early last year 2022.
