Benue Police Clarifies Hoodlums’ Demonstration In Makurdi

Benue State police command has issued a statement explaining the cause of the hoodlums’ demonstration in Makurdi today

The statement from the spokesperson of the command, SP Anene Sewuese Catherine said, on 8/2/2023 at about 1900hrs information was gathered that one Abdullahi Suleiman got into a fight with some unknown persons at Northbank and he was stabbed with a knife on his stomach. Suleiman died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Today 9/2/2023 “after his burial, miscreants in the area planned and set a house ablaze with the intention to incite crises but the timely intervention of the police brought the situation under control.

The Commissioner of Police Benue State Command, CP. Wale Abass who visited the area engaged stakeholders and advised them to continue to live in peace and harmony as it has been. He urged them to fish out hoodlums amongst them that were trying to create tension.
In response, members of the community assure the CP of their continuous efforts to maintain peace, reiterating that they have no religious or ethnic dichotomy in the area.”
