Breaking News: Hoodlums Take Over Makurdi, North Bank On Fire, Main Market, Shops Shut Down

From Sissa Abubakar – Makurdi

Angry hoodlums have taken over most parts of Makurdi, the Benue State capital this morning.

We gathered that, their grievances, are the current fuel scarcity and shortage of the new Naira notes in circulation.

They carry sticks and iron rods, chanting war songs.

The SUPREME gathered that North bank was on fire, and people were scampering for safety.

As at the time of filling this report, the hoodlums were moving to the main market – maybe for looting. But the market has been promptly shut.

The police were yet to take action.

Police spokesperson SP Catherine Anene Sewuese in response to our sms simply replied This is not possible “

Similarly Chief Press Secretary to Governor Ortom, Mr Nathaniel Ikyur failed to respond to our WhatsApp message on the crises. We learnt he was attending a function with the governor.
