This year’s Christians Pilgrims to the Holy Land Israel was flagged off in Yola, the Adamawa State capital on Thursday, at Yola international airport.
The interesting flag off ceremony witnessed the presence of the chief host, the Governor of the state, Senator Muhammadu Umaru Jibrilla Bindow, Chairman Nigerian Christians Pilgrim Commission, Most Rev Nichola Okoh and the Executive Secretary of NCPC Rev Tor Uja.
He presented an award to the governor for allowing the flag off to take place in his state for the first time outside the Federal capital , Abuja.
Interestingly this is also the first time the state government is sponsoring a large number of Christians to Israel. The governor who is a Moslem sponsored 1,500 Christians to the holy land.
He urged them to pray for peace in Adamawa and the country as well as President Muhammadu Buhari. “Please pray for peace in Adamawa, in the entire north and Nigeria. Please also pray for our president,” he urged them
Earlier the Executive Secretary of the State Christians Welfare Board, Bishop Dr. Jinga Mayo commended the governor for his kind gesture in approving the sponsorship of 1500 Christians, which he noted was the highest number right from the time the state was Gongola and for identifying with Christians in the state.
He also commended Rev. Uja for allowing the flag off to take place in Adamawa. Bishop Jinga a hardworking man of God urged the pilgrims to perform the pilgrimage with holiness.
Also, Rev Okoh and Uja urged the pilgrims not to tarnish the image of Adamawa and Nigeria but to make the state and the country proud by their good conducts.
