Delta Police Clamps Down On Illegal Road Blocks, Illegal Revenue Collections

From Monday Ochuko – Asaba

The Delta State Police Command has launched a statewide clampdown on illegal road blocks and unauthorized revenue collection along highways, in strict compliance with the Federal Government directive to rid Nigerian roads of extortion and criminal activities.

The enforcement exercise commenced last Friday, July 24th, 2025, targeting notorious points where illegal tolls and roadblocks have disrupted free traffic movement and endangered motorists.

The SUPREME learnt that, during the operation, nine suspects were arrested at strategic locations including; Onitsha Head Bridge axis, boundary between Delta and Anambra States and Benin–Asaba Expressway by Agbor.

All suspects are currently in custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

The Delta State Police Command reiterates its commitment to restoring sanity and safety to highways across the state. Similar enforcement exercises will be replicated in other parts of Delta to ensure that motorists and commuters travel without harassment or illegal levies and urge members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement officers accordingly.

Spokesman for the Command SP Bright Edafe confirmed the story.
