Erudite Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tunji Disu on Monday 9th March 2026, decorated eight Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) to form his management team.

Among the DIGs is immediate past Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Police Command Lagos, comprising Lagos and Ogun states, Adegoke Mustapha Fayoade.

DIG Fayoade from Osun State, was one time Commissioner of Police (CP) Lagos State.
While in Lagos, he carved a nitch for himself.

He was able to annihilate a gang of sophisticated kidnappers whose ransome were only foreign currencies. They went after the very rich in Lagos, with sophisticated weapons and drove expensive cars. Their modus operandi was coded and difficult for the police to nip them in the bud. But Fayoade monitored then for months, and with dexterity crushed then in a bloody shootout. The very rish in Lagos jubilated. Many Lagisians believe that, previous CPs were unable to curb their nefarious activities as a result of their modus operandi.

Again, when Fayoade was CP Lagos, he applied intelligence that witnessed peaceful protest, when he bought biscuits, water and minerals for protesters. The extra feat was the first of its kind in Lagos. The commendable intelligence weakened the protesters’ intention, especially the hoodlums from being violent. Protests in Lagos usually result in violence.

Also, as an AIG in charge of Zone 2 Lagos, Fayoade, an officer with integrity, exhibited professionalism and uprightness, when he rejected a bribe of N170million offered by an international internet fraudster, to escape justice. Fayoade instead, used the N170million in foreign currency as an exhibit to prosecute the suspect.

His exemplary performances worthy of emulation, has paid off for his elevation to the rank of a DIG.
