The Plenary Session of the Police Service Commission (PSC) to promote senior police officers scheduled for this month has been postponed indefinitely. No date is fixed.
The SUPREME exclusively learnt that, the promotion exercise may not hold until after the Anambra State governorship election.
The election is slated for November 6, 2021.
We reliably learnt that the reason for the postponement is that, some of the officers due for promotion are being deployed in Anambra for the election exercise.
A dependable source at the PSC hinted that, “some of the officers who are to appear before the Commission will be involved in the Anambra election.”
Our source further disclosed that, “some of our senior staff who are members of the Plenary will also be at Anambra,”
Spokesman of PSC Mr Ikechukwu Ani told The SUPREME on phone today October 22, 2021 that, “no date has been fixed for the Plenary “
He failed to give reason for the postponement.
The SUPREME investigations reveal that, about four Commissioners of Police (CPs) are slated for promotion to the next rank of Assistant Inspectors-General (AIG) of Police. In the same vein, two AIGs are slated for promotion to the next rank of DIG. One of the AIGs is to represent South-West geo-political zone. His promotion to DIG is as a result of the DIG representing South – West, who is due for retirement end of November this year
Our discrete investigations also reveal that, six Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) are also slated for promotion to the next rank of CP. It was not immediately known how many ACPs have been slated for promotion to the rank of DCPs.
