Hunger: Man Steals N5,000 Yam Flour, May Go To Prison
Hunger in the land may have prompted a young man Abdulahi Mumuni 42 to steal yam flour worth N5,000. While those who looted billions of Naira are opting for plea bargain, an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan will tomorrow, Tuesday sentence Abdulahi Mumuni, after he pleaded guilty to stealing the yam flour.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mumuni was arraigned in the court on a one-count charge of theft. The prosecutor, Sgt. Omilana Olufemi, told the court that the accused on Saturday at 8.30 a.m. stole the yam flour from a shop at Bodija Market in Ibadan. The property belonged to one Alhaja Rafatu Kareem. Olufemi said that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Cap 38 Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000. The Magistrate, Mr Taiwo Oladiran, ordered the convict to be remanded until tomorrow,Tuesday for sentencing. (NAN)
