Shake-Up In Police: 5 DIGs, Several AIGs retire

Strong indications filtered in over the weekend that, the Presidency is chopping for a replacement for the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr Kayode Egbetokun.

So far, The SUPREME reliably learnt that, five Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs) retired statutorily last Saturday March 1st 2025. And from yesterday, Monday March 3rd they seize to report in their offices.

The DIGs are:
DIG Bala Ciroma, who represented North East geo-political Zone iin the police,
DIG Dasuki Galadanchi from Kano State,
DIG Jonathan Toworu from Delta State, who represented the South South geo-political zone and
DIG Ari Mohammed Ali, who represented North Central geo-political Zone He was one time Delta State Commissioner of Police (CP), and Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 2 Lagos. The last is DIG Badru Banji Lawal who represented the South West geo-political Zone.

Discrete investigations by The SUPREME reveal that several AIGs and CPs are to retire this week.

Our undercover investigations reveal that, IGP Egbetokun was given six months extension which elapses today March 4, 2025. Presidency source could not confirm if the four year Police Act of 2024 tenure for future IGPs, is extended to Egbetokun.

Already, the Police Service Commission (PSC) last Friday, February 28th 2025, approved
appointment of AIG Sulieman Amuda Yusuf, AIG incharge of Zone 9 Umuahia and AIG Rhoda Adetutu Olofu, former Force Secretary as Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs).

They are to replace two of the retired DIGs.

A source close to the PSC disclosed that, three new DIGs would be appointed tomorrow March 5th, to replace the remaining three retired DIGs

Yusuf and Olofu were appointed to occupy the vacancies created by the retirement of the DIGs in charge of Operations and the DIG in charge of Information and Communication Technology.

They were also the most senior Officers representing the North Central Geo-political zone in the Nigeria Police Force.

DIG Rhoda Adetutu Olofu was until her appointment, was the Force Secretary and former AIG Maritime Police Command, Lagos; Commissioner of Police Ports Authority Police Western Ports Command; CP X- Squad, Force CID; and CP Servicom, Department of Research and Planning.
