Delta State Police Command last weekend made outstanding breakthrough, when it arrested the youth leader of Ekoan Community near Warri, Victor Edavwe, and other suspected criminals
The SUPREME learnt that, on the 15th of March 2025, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ekpan Police Division, received information that one Victor Edavwe youth president of Ekpan Community was suspected to have recently purchased an AK-47 rifle.
The DPO, CSP Aliyu Shaba mobilized and led operatives to Shrine Street in Ekpan, where the suspect Victor Edavwe was arrested and taken to the Police station for interrogation.
We learnt that during the interrogation, the suspects gave useful information that corroborated the intelligence earlier gathered. He was said to have led the operatives to the house of one Efe (surname unknown) aka ‘Eteyomo’ and a search was conducted in the premises during which one AK-47 rifle, one single barrel gun, three cutlasses, two daggers and forty-four rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition wrapped in a black sack and concealed on the roof of the sitting room were recovered.
The suspects are said to be in police custody and the investigation is ongoing.
In a related development, police source in Asaba disclosed that, on the16th of March 2025 the same DPO Ekpan Police station while acting on intelligence gathered on criminal activities of kidnappers, armed robbers around Jeddo axis of Okpe LGA, led operatives of the station and arrested one Endurance Oghoghome ‘aged 38years of Umukoro street, Blessing Oghoghome 46years, Marvellous Dissy aged 43years and Jonas Orogho 38years. The suspects upon preliminary investigations led the policemen to their hideout in Jeddo community and a search warrant was executed on the premises. During the search, one automatic English pump action gun, two locally made single barrel guns, one locally fabricated Beretta pistol, one locally made cut-to-size gun, and a live cartridge were recovered.
The suspects and exhibits are in custody while the investigation is ongoing.
The Commissioner of Police Delta State CP Olufemi Abaniwonda commended the DPO and his men for their dedication and commitment, while reiterating that the people of Jeddo community have reached out to the command appreciating police efforts. He noted that, they can now breathe a sigh of relief due to the arrest of the suspects.
