Breaking News: New Commissioners Of Police For Eight States Emerge Today

From Aruga Joe Omokaro, Haruna Tula – Abuja

New Commissioners of Police (CPs) are expected to be announced later today Tuesday 21st July 2026, for eight state Police Commands.

The states are: Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Benue, Cross River, Edo, Jigawa and Plateau.

The Inspector-General of Pooice (IGP) Olatunji Rilwan Disu is said to have submitted the names of the Commissioners of Police to the Police Service Commission (PSC), last week for ratification and for posting to the eight states.

The SUPREME reliably that, the IGP submitted the names to the PSC through the Force Secretary, while he was out of the country for an INTERPOL conference.

Dependable sources at Force Headquarters (FHQ) and at the PSC Abuja, disclosed that, “the deployment of the CPs would have taken place two weeks ago, but the IG travelled. He is back. We are expecting that, the deployment will be out tomorrow (today), after decoration of the newly promoted AIGs and CPs.”

We also learnt that, a vibrant female CP is being considered for a state command. Already CP Hope Okafor is in charge of Ebonyi State Police Command. She is an indigene of Enugu State, a neighbourstate to Ebonyi. Her further stay as CP Ebonyi is said to be shaky.

Sources hinted that, there was intense lobbying by some AIGs and CPs through top politicians and retired senior police officers as well as some state Governors to be considered for lofty State Police Commands and Zones.

Force spokesman, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu did not respond to our enquiry on the deployment of the CPs.

Similarly, PSC spokesman, Torty Njoku Kalu failed to respond to our enquiry on the ratification and deployment of the new state command CPs.
