The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa has concluded his interactive Town Hall Meetings across the state’s Area Commands with stakeholders from Local Government Areas under Agbani and Enugu Metropolis Area Commands. Held separately at the Nkanu West Local Government Council Secretariat Hall, Agbani, and the Enugu Sports Club, Enugu, the Meetings provided a platform for the Commissioner of Police to receive feedback and respond to concerns, questions and observations on the Command’s operational, investigative and administrative activities.
CP Giwa noted that the engagements further strengthened community policing, enhanced public trust, and reinforced the partnership between the Police and the public.
He reassured participants of the Command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining its crime-fighting strategies and preserving the peace, security and public order currently enjoyed across the Area Commands and the State.
Participants, including Local Government Chairmen, traditional and religious leaders, Presidents-General of communities, transport union representatives, hoteliers, traders, women, youth and student leaders, members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), personnel of sister security agencies, the Enugu State Forest Guards and Neighbourhood Watch Group, commended the Command’s efforts in maintaining security across Enugu State. They also appreciated the Commissioner of Police for creating a platform for direct engagement with citizens and urged him to sustain the initiative.
The Agbani Town Hall Meeting was attended by the Executive Chairmen of Aninri, Hon. Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjokwu; Nkanu East, Hon. Sydney Okechukwu Ede; and Nkanu West, Hon. John Chukwuma Ogbodo, alongside other critical stakeholders within the Area Command.
At the Enugu Metropolis Area Command meeting, the Executive Chairmen of Enugu East, Engr. Beloved-Dan Anike, and Enugu North, Dr. Ibenaku Onoh, were in attendance, while the Deputy Chairman represented the Chairman of Enugu South Local Government Area. Also present were Hon. Monday Diamond Ani, the GM/CEO of the State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA), the Chairman of the Enugu State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Igwe Dr. Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu; the Council’s Public Relations Officer, HRM Igwe Dr. Emmanuel Ugwu; the Sarki Hausawa of Enugu State, HRH Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf Sambo; the State Chairman of the PCRC, Rev. Bright Alaribe; opinion leaders and other critical security stakeholders.
It will be recalled that the Commissioner of Police had earlier held similar Town Hall Meetings with stakeholders in the Nsukka, Oji-River and Udenu Area Commands, bringing the statewide stakeholder engagement exercise to a successful conclusion.
