The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, yesterday Thursday, 16 July 2026, continued his familiarisation tour of Area Commands with a visit to the Ozoro Area Command. At the Command, he paid a courtesy visit to the Ovie of Ozoro Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Barr. Anthony Uvietobore Ogbogbo (Ibuka I), before engaging community stakeholders and officers of the command.
The visit is in furtherance of the Inspector-General of Police’s policing vision of deepening grassroots policing through stronger collaboration with traditional institutions and local communities.
At the palace, the CP appreciated the kingdom for its sustained support to the Nigeria Police Force and emphasised the critical role of traditional rulers in tackling the growing threats of kidnapping, cultism and drug-related crimes, particularly in rural communities.
He noted that effective policing and sustainable economic development are inextricably linked, and appealed for continued support through community partnership. He acknowledged the challenges associated with confronting criminal elements, the CP assured the monarch of the command’s unwavering commitment to intelligence-led, professional and lawful policing.
Responding, the monarch reaffirmed the palace’s confidence in the Nigeria Police Force and pledged the kingdom’s continued cooperation, assuring the Commissioner of Police that the palace would always support the Police in efforts aimed at protecting lives, property and sustaining peace within the kingdom.
The Commissioner of Police thereafter met with stakeholders and officers of the Ozoro Area Command, where he reiterated that security is a collective responsibility requiring active public participation . He urged residents to volunteer credible and timely information to the Police. The CP further charged officers to uphold discipline, professionalism and respect for human rights. He warned officers on the use of social media, and absolute adherence to the Social Media Policy, and should not engage in anything that will bring disrepute to the Force. He further directed them to intensify intelligence-led operations against kidnapping, cultism, drug-related crimes and other criminal activities, while strengthening public confidence through effective community policing.
Spokesman for the Command SP Bright Edafe confirmed the story.
