EID-EL-KABIR: Ogun, Delta, Enugu CPs Strengthen Security Measures, Assures Peaceful Celebration

The Ogun, Delta and Enugu Commissioners of Police say, they have deployed massive personnel to ensure maximum safety for the Muslims Sallah celebration.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, says he has strengthened proactive security arrangements across the State ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, with firm assurances of a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free festive period for all residents.

In line with this operational posture, “the Command has deployed adequate personnel and operational assets across strategic locations in the State. These include Eid prayer grounds, major highways, recreational centres, markets, motor parks, residential areas, and other identified public spaces. The deployment is aimed at ensuring visible policing, effective crowd control, early threat detection, and swift response to any emerging security concerns before, during, and after the celebration.”

The SUPREME learnt that, acting on the directives of the Commissioner of Police, all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders have been placed on heightened alert and instructed to sustain aggressive patrols, stop-and-search operations where necessary, and ensure round-the-clock supervision of personnel within their areas of responsibility. They are also to strengthen collaboration with community leaders, transport unions, and other relevant stakeholders to enhance intelligence sharing and prevent any breakdown of law and order during the festive period.

The Command appeals to residents to celebrate responsibly and remain security conscious throughout the season. Parents and guardians are urged to closely monitor the movement and activities of their children and wards, while members of the public are advised to avoid any conduct capable of disturbing public peace, including thuggery, cult-related activities, reckless driving, and other forms of disorderly behaviour.

In the same vein, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has assured residents of the State, particularly Muslim faithful, of adequate security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration slated for Wednesday, 27th May and Thursday, 28th May 2026.

In line with the Command’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful and hitch-free celebration, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the massive deployment of personnel across the State. The deployment comprises officers and men drawn from Area Commands, Tactical Teams, Divisions, and other operational units to strategic locations, Eid prayer grounds, major highways, recreational centres, and other vulnerable points.

The SUPREME learnt that, the Command will work in close collaboration with other security and safety agencies, including the Military, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the safety of residents and visitors throughout the festive period.

The Commissioner of Police has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders to intensify intelligence gathering, visibility policing, raids of criminal hideouts and black spots, stop-and-search operations where necessary, and sustained patrols across their respective areas of responsibility. These proactive measures are aimed at preventing criminal activities and ensuring that residents celebrate without fear or intimidation.

CP Yemi Oyeniyi warned criminal elements to steer clear of the State, assuring that the Command remains prepared to deal decisively with any threat to public peace and security. He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious persons or activities through the Command Control Room on 08036684974. The Commissioner of Police, on behalf of officers and men of the Command, wishes all Muslim faithful a peaceful and hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration and urges residents to continue supporting security agencies, as security remains a collective responsibility.

Similarly, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, felicitates with Muslim faithful and children across Enugu State as they mark the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir and Children’s Day festivities respectively.

He describes the celebrations as significants for both the Muslim Ummah and children in the State, urging them to celebrate in the true spirit of the festivities.

Consequently, CP Giwa reassured residents of the Command’s commitment to ensuring a peaceful, secure, and crime-free celebrations across the State. He notes that adequate security measures, including strategic deployment of personnel, intensified visibility and crime-prevention patrols, and intelligence-driven operations, have been put in place to safeguard worship centres, recreational facilities, public spaces, and other critical locations before, during, and after the celebrations.

While wishing Muslim faithful a spiritually rewarding Eid-el-Kabir celebration and children a memorable and joyful Children’s Day commemoration, the CP reiterates the Command’s resolve to sustain proactive policing and partnership with citizens in maintaining peace, public safety, and security in Enugu State.
