He stressed that he would not take responsibility for the irresponsibility, stupidity or misconduct of any police officer, irrespective of rank.

The CP gave the warning during monthly Commissioner of Police’s Strategic Conference with Deputy and Assistant Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) and heads of formations, tactical units, sections, and departments.

The SUPREME learnt that, the Conference held on 7th May 2026, at the Senior Police Officers Mess, Agbani Road, Enugu.

During the Conference, the Commissioner of Police relayed key directives of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, issued at the recent IGP’s emergency conference with senior police officers nationwide, stressing professionalism, discipline, respect for human rights, intelligence-led policing, and responsible conduct in all engagements with the public.

CP Giwa warned that extortion, corruption, incivility, abuse of office, unlawful detention and other misconduct would not be tolerated, adding that erring officers would face disciplinary actions in line with extant laws and police regulations.
