From Our Correspondent – Abeokuta

In commemoration of the 2026 World Malaria Day, the Ogun State Police Command, in collaboration with The Life Projects and other corporate partners, successfully hosted a comprehensive Free Medical Outreach yesterday, 24 April 2026, at the Police Officers’ Mess, Ibara, Abeokuta.

The initiative, themed “Driven to end malaria; Now we can. Now we must,” was designed to provide essential basic healthcare services, malaria testing, and treatments to Police officers, their families and civilian staff present at the event yesterday.

During the event, beneficiaries received free consultations, malaria parasite tests, and the distribution of Long-Lasting Insecticidal Nets and anti-malarial medications. The outreach also featured health education sessions focused on environmental hygiene and preventive measures to curb the spread of the disease within the barracks and surrounding neighborhoods.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, noting how the partnership underscores the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to the “Health is Wealth” mantra, reiterated how a healthy workforce is fundamental to maintaining public safety and effective policing. He commended and extended his gratitude to the Life Projects representatives and their partners for their selfless contribution to community health and the wellbeing of officers of the Ogun State Police command.

Spokesman for the Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the story.
