The Delta State Police Command has assured residents of the State of adequate security before, during, and after the 2026 Democracy Day celebration. In furtherance of this commitment, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, ordered deployment of personnel and operational assets across the State to ensure the protection of lives and property, maintain public order, and guarantee a peaceful celebration.
The security arrangement includes the deployment of conventional police personnel, tactical teams, intelligence operatives, and undercover officers to strategic locations, critical infrastructure, recreational centres, places of worship, major highways, and other public spaces. Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Tactical Commanders have also been directed to intensify visibility policing, intelligence gathering, and confidence-building patrols within their respective areas of responsibility.
The CP called on residents to celebrate responsibly, remain vigilant, and promptly report any suspicious person, movement, or activity to the nearest Police Station or other security agencies. He further urges members of the public to cooperate with security personnel deployed across the State and to remain law-abiding throughout the celebration.
While wishing residents and visitors a peaceful Democracy Day celebration, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reassures the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and property and warns criminal elements against taking advantage of the festivities to perpetrate crime, as the Command remains resolute and fully prepared to deal decisively with any threat to public peace and security.
