From Our Correspondent – Abeokuta

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has commended the Ogun State Police Command for its prompt, coordinated, and intelligence-driven operation that led to the successful rescue of five abducted students of Gateway Polytechnic, Sapade yesterday Tuesday 28/4/26.

In a statement by Comr Adeyemi Samson Ajasa,
NANS National Public Relations Officer ( PRO), the Association “appreciated the news of the rescue operation carried out under the leadership of the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni.
The swift response, professionalism, and gallantry displayed by the tactical units involved reflected a commendable commitment to the protection of lives and property within Ogun State.”

NANS said, it recognized the strategic deployment of security formations, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, SWAT, and other response teams, whose synergy and resilience ensured the safe rescue of the victims despite the risks involved. The operation stands as a strong message to criminal elements that acts of lawlessness will not go unchecked.

“While we applaud this success, we urge the Ogun State Police Command to sustain the ongoing efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and ensure they are brought to justice. The safety and security of students across campuses remain a top priority, and such proactive measures are critical in restoring public confidence.

We also call on students and members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information that can aid in crime prevention and response.”
