Enugu CP Giwa Harps On Effective Information Management

From Our Correspondent – Enugu

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has emphasized the importance of effective information management and security reporting in addressing evolving threats such as terrorism, cybercrime, and organized crime. He made this known during a lecture delivered yesterday 29th April 2026 at the Enugu State Peace and Security Management Course held at the 82 Division Headquarters, Nigerian Army, Enugu.

Represented by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, the CP spoke on “Information Management and Security Reporting in Contemporary Security Operations: A Police Perspective.”
He noted that modern security operations depend on efficient collection, processing, protection, and sharing of information. He stressed that timely and accurate information is critical to operational success, while poor handling can lead to mission failures and security breaches.

CP Giwa further warned that insider threats, unauthorized disclosures, and weak data protection remain major risks, describing security reporting as vital for identifying vulnerabilities, containing breaches, and preventing recurrence. He called for stronger inter-agency collaboration through intelligence sharing, standardized protocols, and deployment of secure, technology-driven systems, alongside continuous capacity building and accountability.

The Commissioner of Police stressed that no single agency can effectively tackle current security challenges alone, stressing the need for collective vigilance, cooperation, and a culture of prompt and transparent reporting. The lecture featured an interactive session and was attended by participants from the military, police, paramilitary agencies, community leaders, youths, and other key stakeholders.
