This October 2024 could be regarded as a mourning month for Lagos State Police Command, as four police officers have died.
Chronicle of harvest of deaths in the command, began with a Station Officer attached to Trade Fair Complex who was said to have been shot dead.
Just on Wednesday, 16th October a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Ijanikin Police Division was said to have slumped in office and died later. Two days after the death of the DPO, precisely on Friday 18th October, an Inspector allegedly committed suicide in Ikorodu. And just yesterday an ASP attached to Pen Cinema Police Division was said to have been lynched by hoodlums.
The SUPREME gathered that, a Police Inspector (name withheld), who was residing at Iteswaju CDA off Eri Road, Isiwu, Ikorodu, allegedly committed suicide.
We further learnt that, the late lnsoector was attached to OPG head office in Ikeja.
A dependable source informed The SUPREME that, son of the late inspector reported the death of his father at Imota Police Station in Ikorodu at about 2pm of that Friday
The son was said to have informed the police that, his later father sent him out on an errand, and as he returned he saw his father hanging on a ceiling fan. He was said to have called his father, but his father did not respond, and it dawned on him that his father has committed suicide.
Police detectives led by an DSP (names withheld) were said to have visited the residence of the late Inspector, where they removed his corpse to a mortuary for an autopsy.
Lagos State Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin could not be reached to confirm the sad incident.
